On June 23, 2020 by webminister

Due to the popularity of previous Dutch books posted, here is another pretty little book, scroll ALL the way through to find the best pages! It’s worth the effort, I promise!

VAN ALPHEN HOURS at the Walters Gallery

Italy 1470 at the Morgan Library The layout is Psalter like but the Italians put their own spin on it after that. A really pretty book, a variety of layouts some simple some more complex, something for everyone.

Whether it is an Archangel or St George slaying the devil, a demon or a dragon, this is a popular theme in many many books and I felt it deserved it’s moment in the sun this morning, from the Bodleian library.
